After the news broke yesterday that an unknown
STD virus has killed about 123 people in Kwahu
in the Eastern Region of Ghana, South Africa and
the United States have responded quickly by
sending STD specialists in Ghana to investigate
the virus.
In a statement issued by the South Africa’s
Ministry of Health and copied to ondamic.com,
Twelve (12) South Africa Doctors have been sent
to Ghana to help curb the spread of the virus
and the accompanied death. The statement also
emphasized on the fact that South Africa does
not provide aid only by sending ex-police chiefs
to train party securities but in all sectors when
the need arises.
“We are in deep sorrow as Ghana mourns the
death of 123 people killed by an unknown STD
virus. As a nation that has Ghana at heart, we
are sending 12 STD specialists to Ghana to
assist in the control of the diseases to prevent
further lost of lives. We also want to state that,
South Afica do not only provide ex-police chiefs
in aid support but any sector when the need
arises.” – Aaron Motsoaledi, Minister of Health
said in the statement.
The United States of America who recently sent
2 ex-Guantanamo Bay detainees to Ghana as aid
to train Ghana’s police and Military, has also
sent 35 STD specialists to Ghana to help nip the
outbreak in the bud.
It was reported on Saturday that 123 people
enjoying the pleasures Kwahu presents during
Easter died within 24 hours of having
unprotected “chop chop” due to condom
shortage in the mountainous town.
